Vancouver Division 2021 Annual General Meeting (AGM)

The Vancouver Division of Family Practice Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place on Thursday October 21, 2021, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, which will be held for the second time online. You will hear from our Directors and Guest Speakers who will provide you with a fulsome picture of the Division’s work this past year, as well as what's to come in the future.

We are asking registrants for the AGM to include an email address AND the best mailing address for us to use (shipping address on the registration form). Email addresses will be utilized to send the link to participate in the AGM (closer to the date). AGM materials will be shared electronically. However, if it is decided that attendees require something physically, mailing addresses will be used.

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Onye Nnorom

Vancouver Division is honoured to announce Dr. Onye Nnorom as our 2021 AGM keynote speaker.

Dr. Nnorom is a Toronto-based family doctor and public health specialist. In her keynote, she will highlight her work, which focuses on health equity, particularly the health impacts of racism.

Dr. Nnorom holds a number of leadership roles. At the University of Toronto, she is the Black Health Theme Lead for the Faculty of Medicine and the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Lead within the Department of Family and Community Medicine. Some may be familiar with her podcast Race, Health, and Happiness.

It is a pleasure to have Dr. Nnorom add her voice and perspective to the Division's ongoing commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

1. State how systemic racism impacts patient health.
2. Describe how racism impacts on the therapeutic relationship, utilizing anti-Black racism and biases as a case example of the concrete negative outcomes of systemic racism.
3. Identify promising practices for addressing racism in primary care that they will pursue further in their learning or clinical practice.
